I found out 3 days before I went to El Salvador

This is the story of how I was invited to go on my first mission trip.

I decided to go to church with my sister one Sunday morning and they had brought a group of people on the stage. They had told everyone that they were the individuals who would be traveling to El Salvador for a week-long mission trip the upcoming week. The speaker on the stage began to pray over the group and I began to tear up. At this moment I was, and had been, experiencing a calling from the Lord that I was so eager to fulfill that it brought tears to my eyes just wishing I would have an opportunity like this someday soon.

That evening I attended the young adults group where the pastor's wife and one of their daughters was also. I shared with the two of them what I had experienced this morning and they quickly joked that they may possibly have a couple of spots open and asked if I had my passport. Taking this subtle offer with much doubt that anything would come from it, I answered yes to the passport question. However to my surprise, that same pastor's daughter reached out to me two days later announcing it was no longer a joke and I was invited to join their mission trip team!

The possible maybes of the other two spots did fill and everyone had a superbly blessed week helping and loving on the people of El Salvador. This story is a perfect reminder that the Lord can make anything happen as long as you have a "yes" in your heart.

If God is calling you to something, don't shut him out because you never know what may be on the other side of the door!
